Assessment of the ecological effects of development proposals, including PEA and EcIA, with advice on mitigation, compensation and enhancement measures. We provide defensible ecological evidence for planning, appeals and public inquiries.
We undertake Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) to evaluate the likely ecological effects of development proposals on habitats, protected and notable species, designated sites, and ecological connectivity. EcIA can be provided as a standalone service or informed by a Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) and any necessary targeted survey work, ensuring decisions are based on a robust and proportionate evidence base. Assessments are undertaken in accordance with the more recent CIEEM Guidelines for Ecological Impact Assessment and relevant planning policy, legislation, and best practice guidance.
Our assessments identify ecological constraints and opportunities, determine the significance of likely effects, and set out practical measures to avoid, reduce, compensate for, or enhance impacts as part of the design and planning process. This may include mitigation strategies, habitat retention and creation, species protection measures, compensation proposals, long-term management, and integration with Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) requirements where relevant. We provide clear, defensible ecological evidence to support planning applications, condition discharge, planning appeals, and public inquiries.
